URGENT: Stop a Feeding Ban Against Cats in Ripon, CA

This action is ONLY for residents of California

URGENT: We must act fast to stop a feeding ban against community cats in the City of Ripon, California! The council is scheduled to vote on this harmful measure NEXT TUESDAY, November 10th, at 6:00 p.m. Pacific time.

Before then, please take just a minute to tell the Ripon City Mayor and Councilmembers to vote NO.

Ordinance 941 would criminalize the feeding of any community cat in the city without permission from animal control. This subjective standard creates unreasonable burdens for caregivers, impedes Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), and wastes municipal resources.

Feeding bans cut cats off from the resources they have come to depend on, causing the cats to suffer all while offering no benefit to the community. Furthermore, they penalize community cat caregivers for simply being compassionate and providing a community service.

Proposed language on animal abandonment will also be part of Tuesday's vote. As written, this measure does not exclude TNR from the definition of abandonment as it should, leaving caregivers at risk of fines up to $1,000 or up to 6 months' imprisonment simply for returning the cats to their outdoor homes.

Please join Alley Cat Allies to fight for the community cats and caregivers of Ripon. Tell the City of Ripon to reject Ordinance 941.
