Demand Justice for a Cat Shot in Lincolnton, Georgia—Urged by Mayor

This action is ONLY for residents of Georgia

In the small town of Lincolnton, Georgia, a cat was senselessly hunted down, shot, and killed on April 17, 2026. According to a police report and body camera footage, the shooter was Lizzy Long, the wife of Lincolnton Mayor Mike McCombs. Even more disturbingly, McCombs actively encouraged the killing of the cat.

This was an act of horrific and illegal cruelty, and justice must be served. Please join Alley Cat Allies in demanding immediate criminal charges against Lizzy Long, Mayor McCombs, and the cat’s owner.

According to a police report, Mayor McCombs asked local police officer Jason Shelton to “go to the house and give the cat owner [his] gun and let him shoot the cat.” The officer refused.

Officer Shelton went to the property and reiterated that he could not shoot the cat. However, Mayor McCombs arrived on the scene along with Lizzy Long, who had a shotgun in hand. The mayor urged her to do the killing instead, all while the terrified cat hid behind a garage.

Long then shot the cat, who suffered greatly before she died. The entire incident was captured on police bodycam footage. Long's actions violate multiple Georgia laws, and both the mayor and the owner aided and abetted them.

The police report indicates that the incident began after the cat’s owner fell on her and possibly hurt her, causing her to respond fearfully. All of this occurred the night before the shooting.

On this page, send a letter to the District Attorney to pursue arrests and criminal charges, and to the Lincolnton City Council, urging the immediate removal of Mayor McCombs from office.
